About the 2016 Awards

Wild Asia Responsible Tourism Awards

2016 Wild Asia Responsible Tourism Awards

Please note we will not be accepting applications for the 2016 Awards, please read on for full details…

2016 marks the 10th birthday of our Wild Asia Responsible Tourism Awards, so we wanted to make it special and meaningful. Our team has decided that instead of running a traditional awards competition, this year we will focus on consolidating lessons learned in a decade of responsible tourism, and be re-connecting with past recipients to share stories of best practice.

Whilst we’re proud to have given recognition to inspirational projects and businesses from around the region, we believe we could definitely improve in giving these stories better exposure. To that end, we are excited to be producing better open-source documentation – successes, challenges, impact, insights etc – across the program to date.

October 2016 we will celebrate the finalised documentation and premiere of 10 short engaging and education documentaries, or our Top 10 Awardees over the last decade, at ITB Asia in Singapore. You’re all invited!

When we began this journey, we were one of the first responsible tourism awards programs, and certainly the pioneers in Asia. It’s been heart-warming, eye-opening…and we’re excited to reflect on these exceptional stories from our region and do a better job of sharing them with the world. Moving forward, we are at this point not clear if we will continue the Awards, for now, let’s celebrate a decade of life-changing travel.

2016’s special celebration could not be possible without the generous support of GIZ. “Presented by the Responsible and Inclusive Business Hub Southeast Asia (RIBH SEA) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Responsible and Inclusive Business Hub Southeast Asia”germancooperationGIZ logo
