Responsible Tourism Awards

4

Please note that in 2016 our Awards ended and we no longer accept applications. After ten years of identifying leaders from around the region, we’re happy to continue to share with you these case studies for your inspiration.

Wild Asia’s Responsible Tourism Awards was one of the first tourism award in Asia specifically focused on sustainable tourism best practices. Established by Wild Asia in 2006, this annual award aimed to recognize accommodation operators who are making a positive difference in the destination where they operate by adopting sustainable management practices. We aimed to reward the bright sparks, in the hope more operators from the region will be encouraged to step forward and to share and inspire change from within the travel industry, beginning with operators closest to us.

Over the years, our fabulous Finalists and Winners have celebrated their achievements at ITB Asia and the PATA Travel Marts. Through these strategic event partners, Winners can showcase to an international audience their success in sustainable travel. Those recognized in our Awards benefit from positive PR via our selection of media partners and have an exclusive profile on the Wild Asia website as an example of best practice.

Find out who our past finalists and winners  are.

Our Awards were based on the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria. The criteria “serves as the minimum standard that any tourism business should aspire to reach in order to protect and sustain the world’s natural and cultural resources while ensuring tourism meets its potential as a tool for poverty alleviation.”

The Awards have given us the opportunity to highlight operators that are making a significant difference based on these criteria serving as tool to reach and inspire others. Being recognized by our Responsible Tourism Awards validates businesses’ efforts in responsible business and provides a  platform to showcase achievements of environmental best practice and support for local communities.
